Condom

Carved Plaster

10cm x 10cm x 25cm

"Condom" is a homage to the lives lost to the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s. The taboo and marginalized nature of the topic has long inspired artists, including the iconic Keith Haring. This sculpture, carved from plaster, depicts the individual and the condom as a single being, reinforcing the importance of safe sex even in the age of PrEP. Thus, "Condom" offers a reinterpretation of the condom as a tool of survival and evading death in the gay community through its minimalist form.
